Dear Parents/Guardians,

In order to limit the interactions that might negatively affect attendees, the traditional Meet the Teacher/Open House will be a little different for the 2020-2021 school year.  A date has been set for Thursday, August 20, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

We have revised our process to make the evening a drive-through or limited entry event.  Directions are included below regarding the process for each building.  There is not a make-up date scheduled if inclement weather causes the event to be cancelled.  If cancellation occurs, we ask that you send supplies with your child on the first day of school.

For additional information or answers to questions, please call office personnel in the building where your child attends.  I apologize for the changes we are making to the process.  Hopefully, future Meet the Teacher/Open House nights will be structured like the exciting times we have enjoyed in the past.

Sincerely,
Billy Redus

Open House/Meet the Teacher Directions

Pate

We are excited to see you at Pate!  We will do our best to make our drive through “meet the teacher” process as efficient as possible.  In order to help us direct you to the correct starting location, it would be appreciated if you post a sign on the windshield that states student name, grade level and teacher name (if known).

*In order to reduce the number of families coming through at one time (increased wait time), we are asking that students with last names A-K come from 5:00-6:00, and students with last names L-Z come from 6:00-7:00.  If there are children with multiple last names in the family, you do not need to drive through multiple times, please pick one time frame.

Note, if you have a child in second or first grade, as well as a child in kindergarten or preschool, you will need to start with the oldest child.

All cars must enter from the Carnation entrance.  If you have a first or second grade student, you will enter the east parking lot, as if you were going through our pick-up line.   Once wrapped around the parking lot, you will be directed to cross the road and enter the first lane (furthest from the building) of the teacher parking lot from the South side.  Facing North in the lane, second grade teachers will be on the right, and first grade teachers will be on the left.  If you do not have students in preschool or kindergarten, once supplies are dropped off, you will exit from the north side of the lane, heading back to Carnation.  If you also have a preschool or kindergarten student, you will turn left, travel to the closest lane to the building, and turn south.  Facing south, preschool teachers will be on the right, and kindergarten teachers will be on the left. Once supplies are dropped off, you will exit straight and turn left on the south lane of our circle drive.  At the stop sign, you will turn right, and exit on Church Street.

If you only have a preschool or kindergarten student, you will continue straight into our teacher parking lot into the lane closest to the building, then turn South (which will be a one-way lane). Preschool teachers will be on the right side, kindergarten teachers will be on the left. Once supplies are dropped off, you will exit straight and turn left on the south lane of our circle drive.  At the stop sign, you will turn right, and exit on Church St.

We ask that any visits which require office personnel to be conducted prior to these times.  Our office is open Monday through Thursday from 7:30-4:00.  If you must visit the office during our meet the teacher night, please enter the circle drive that goes to our main entrance.  Once there, a teacher will provide assistance.

Robinson School

Parents will enter the drive-thru open house event at Robinson using the south parking lot entrance on Lincoln Avenue.  A teacher will be available for traffic direction at that entrance.  From there, cars will be divided into two lanes based on grade level.  Teachers will be grouped by grade level along both sides of the car line, where parents may drop off supplies to the appropriate group, wave to the teachers, and exit the circle drive area.  If you have more than one student, we will gladly accept supplies for both students.

Junior High

For Students:
Students in 7th and 8th grades will be allowed in small numbers to enter the building to get a copy of their schedule, put materials and supplies in their locker, and meet the teachers. It would be a great opportunity for students to deposit lunch money and pay the annual technology fee to be ready for the year! Teachers and staff will be available to give students directions for short building tours.

For Parents:
Teachers will be creating short introductory videos that will be shared on website that will be shared through parents’ email.  The video will provide basic information about the teachers; name, subject or classes they teacher, the best way to make contact throughout the year, any additional information they wish to include.

Procedure:
Students will enter through the A10 (main entrance), get their schedules, directions to their locker/classes and then exit through the A9 door. Parents can drop their students off at the A10 Entrance, pull their vehicle forward and wait for their child to exit at A9.  Please use patience and kindness as students, parents and staff adapt to a new style of open house and we get students back to school for the 2020-2021 School Year.

High School

Students attending Aurora High School will be allowed to pick up their schedules, deposit lunch money, pay the annual $30 technology fee and pick up their laptops.  Students will use the main entrance and complete all tasks in the main lobby.  NO building tours will be allowed.  Students who desire a locker assignment may do so in the High School office during the first week of school.
